King Ghidorah 2019 Video

Ghidorah's wings are much larger and more bat-like in appearance than most incarnations - the membrane of each wing is supported by four bat-like phalanges extending from Ghidorah's wrists, and an additional three phalanges that extend from the sides of Ghidorah's torso.

All these phalanges end in blade-like tips that emerge from the wing membrane. Though Ghidorah takes on a bipedal stance when standing still, when moving on his legs he uses his wings as forelimbs for crawling, to support his massive body.

Ghidorah still has his traditional twin tails with spiked bludgeons at their tips that can rattle as an intimidation display. His legs are digitigrade and stocky with avian-like feet, similar to the incarnation.

Ghidorah's blood is shown when his left head is ripped off to be black and oil-like. Ghidorah is portrayed through a mix of motion capture and CGI.

Jason Liles , who starred in Rampage , performed the mo-cap for Ghidorah's middle head, with Alan Maxson and Richard Dorton portraying the other two, while unnamed colleagues play the monster's body.

Ghidorah possesses a high-pitched, wailing roar with an underlying scratching quality - it is similar to some of the vocalizations of Vastatosaurus rex in Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie.

He also at times produces low growls not dissimilar to a lion's. According to Michael Dougherty , Ghidorah's roar in the MonsterVerse is meant to emulate his original high-pitched cackling roar from the Showa series, but far more intense and louder.

The unique point of this incarnation's roar is that sometimes Ghidorah's heads will roar one by one continuously three times.

Ghidorah is an extremely malevolent entity, which is supported by the skulls depicted surrounding him in the cave painting and the fact that ancient cultures barely wrote anything about him as if they wanted him to be completely forgotten.

His sadistic and ruthless nature is established when he willingly obliterates soldiers with his gravity beams instead of ignoring them.

There are also glimpses of his heads seemingly smiling at his potential victims as he pursues or attacks them which may or may not be an optical illusion from his mouths' shape - the most prominent example was when the middle head smirked before Ghidorah obliterated the G-Team.

Unlike most Titans, who tend to attack humans somewhat broadly when enraged by them such as Rodan, or such as Godzilla at the Golden Gate Bridge , Ghidorah has multiple times gone out of his way to attack, murder and pursue individual humans; such as pursuing Emma and Madison Russell respectively when they were alone, and targeting and devouring Vivienne Graham amongst several humans in Antarctica.

Ghidorah furthermore preferred killing humans with his gravity beams and seemingly couldn't settle for dismissively crushing them, as observed when he was about to kill Madison after rooting her out of the Fenway Park stadium.

Alongside his goal to take command of Earth's Titans and alter the planet's environment to his liking an act which separately shows the full extent of Ghidorah's lack of regard for other life , Ghidorah possesses a strong rivalry with Godzilla.

Ghidorah's right and middle heads were particularly confrontational and exchanged scowls with his ancient enemy when Ghidorah and Godzilla met again after Ghidorah's awakening, and the Titans attempted to size each-other up before engaging.

Each of Ghidorah's heads has a distinct personality. The middle head Ichi appears to be the leader, being the most dominant and intelligent-seeming head of the three, and also seemingly the most sadistic and malicious.

It appears to be more focused on pursuing Ghidorah's grand-scale goals and generally quicker-acting than the other two heads; being the most attentive head when Ghidorah first sensed Godzilla's approach in Antarctica and upon Emma Russell 's apparent death, and twisting its neck slightly quicker than the other two heads when pursuing Emma and the ORCA.

Because of this, the middle head appears to take Ghidorah's rivalry with Godzilla more personally than the other heads when challenging the terrestrial Titan.

The middle head is somewhat creative in battle, such as when it bit down on a power station in Boston.

The middle head was only known to show fear at the end of Ghidorah's life, being visibly terrified by a thermonuclear Godzilla's advance after the latter destroyed the other two heads.

The right head Ni is the most irritable and aggressive of the three, often producing snarling or scowling facial expressions.

It appears to be particularly bloodthirsty and eager for battle based on these expressions, such as when it feebly attempted to fend Godzilla off while the other heads were incapacitated by Mothra 's webbing.

The right head displays pragmatism and better spatial awareness of its foes while fighting, such as when it destroyed the Fenway Park speakers broadcasting the ORCA's signal although this may have been frustration , and when it was attempting to free the other heads from Mothra's webbing first checking Mothra wasn't in a position to immediately strike again before the head got to the task, and quickly noticing Godzilla's approach in a building's reflection.

This head is a loyal and obedient follower towards the middle head and appears to rank second on the trio's pecking order; often chirping suggestively to the middle head or being consulted by the middle head first such as when Ghidorah was confused by the ORCA's deactivation in Antarctica , and devouring the crushed ice falling from the middle head's jaws when it devoured Vivienne Graham.

The left head San, also called "Kevin" seems to be the least intelligent and least aggressive of the heads; and based on its facial expressions or lack thereof compared to the other heads when Ghidorah is engaged in action, it appears to be somewhat docile.

The left head is easily distracted and unfocused, to the frustration and disappointment of the middle head who has to forcibly get its companion back on task.

Possibly because of its behavior, the left head appears to be at the bottom of the three heads' pecking order. This head initially showed an inquisitive side upon Ghidorah's awakening; its unique first reaction among the heads was to immediately look around when Ghidorah's heads were emerging from the ice, and it responded to the G-Team shooting at it by bending its neck to get a closer look even nuzzling one of them with its chin.

It attacked the G-Team in unison with the other two heads only after the middle head had forcefully pushed it back to get it back on task, and immediately afterward it spent time off-task licking the team's ashy remains.

The left head appears to be somewhat timider than the other two when the heads aren't working together, at times casting worried looks towards the other heads such as when facing Godzilla in Antarctica - the left head furthermore openly displayed fear of Godzilla at the time of Emma Russell's death when Ghidorah sensed Godzilla's approach unlike the other two heads, who never openly showed such emotion except when Ghidorah was about to be killed.

However, the left head behaves much more confidently when engaging alongside the other two in battle with Godzilla, since it does not hesitate to strike.

The left head seems to function as a sentry, mostly rearing back and watching while the other two heads engaged Godzilla in Antarctica and observing when Godzilla's tail-fins lit up before he used his atomic breath , and at other times scanning in the direction Ghidorah's back is facing.

Despite its docile streak, the left head does at times display its savagery, being particularly eager to bite down on Godzilla's neck compared to the other two heads when Ghidorah was draining Godzilla's energy.

The left head also fired its gravity beam in a slightly more unfocused manner than the other two at Fenway Park.

If the aforementioned ancient texts are to be believed, Ghidorah was responsible for slaughtering humans and Titans alike. He established himself as a rival alpha to Godzilla , and the two battled each other several times before they vied for supremacy in ancient Antarctica.

The latter battle ended with Godzilla's victory, and Ghidorah being rendered inert and left in the ice to freeze solid [9] [10] near the tip of the continent [1].

This included Ghidorah, along with Godzilla , Mothra , and Rodan , who were shown to the two via classified Monarch cave paintings.

In , Vivienne Graham led an effort to build a containment and research facility around an extraordinary but dormant creature in the Antarctic.

Her classified field notes contained the mysterious footnote, "The devil has three heads. Emma Russell. Ghidorah is first seen frozen in Antarctic ice, with the designation 'Monster Zero'.

Upon awakening, Ghidorah slaughters the G-Team forces on the ground before turning his attention to a grounded Osprey aircraft. Shortly after, Godzilla emerges from the ice and the two Titans engage in battle, decimating the Monarch outpost.

Ghidorah then eats Graham alive and gains the upper hand, but escapes into the sky before Godzilla has the chance to retaliate. Ghidorah later reappears in a massive storm near Mexico, shortly after Rodan, is freed from his volcanic nest.

Monarch attempts to goad the two monsters into fighting each other, with Ghidorah easily defeating Rodan by sending him falling into the ocean.

He proceeds to attack the Monarch crew, but Godzilla emerges from the sea to fight him off. Godzilla tears off Ghidorah's left head.

Desperate and left with no options, the military is forced to detonate the Oxygen Destroyer missile, seemingly killing both Titans.

However, Ghidorah is unaffected by the effects of the missile, which was specifically designed to eliminate all lifeforms in the area by removing all surrounding oxygen.

Ghidorah flies to Rodan's volcano, where he regenerates his missing head. He then calls out to the other Titans around the world, Rodan included, who all acknowledge him as their new alpha.

Ghidorah instructs the Titans to behave hyper-aggressively, attacking major cities across the world and forms a roost in Washington DC, with Rodan acting as his vanguard.

Ilene Chen deduces that Ghidorah is an extraterrestrial, who seeks to destroy all life on Earth and terraform the planet in his image.

Realizing they need Godzilla more than ever, Dr. Serizawa sacrifices himself to detonate a bomb to bring Godzilla back to full strength.

Godzilla appears to challenge his rival once more, with Mothra joining by his side. However, Ghidorah calls upon Rodan to distract Mothra while he takes on Godzilla himself.

With Godzilla seemingly defeated, Ghidorah becomes the new "alpha" or "king of the monsters", and puts out a worldwide call that awakens all of the Earth's Titans to destroy human civilization, with Rodan as his right hand.

Ghidorah even starts causing massive electrical storms in the eastern United States, radically altering climate conditions.

When Ghidorah comes to Boston to destroy the Orca device that is negating its hold over the Titans, it battles a revived Godzilla while Mothra fights Rodan.

With the extra time to recover thanks to distractions from Mothra who is killed by Ghidorah in an act of self-sacrifice and the humans, Godzilla unleashes a series of thermonuclear pulses that obliterate Ghidorah completely.

In a post-credits scene , Jonah and his men are shown a previously-decapitated head of Ghidorah from a fisherman in Mexico.

He quotes to the fisherman, "We'll take it. Throughout the creature's appearances, the only consistent abilities are flight and the capacity to fire "gravity beams" from its mouths.

In Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster , the first incarnation is shown travelling through space within a meteor capable of generating magnetic fields.

King Ghidorah features a robotic version—Mecha-King Ghidorah—equipped with grappling cables and a mechanical arm that can discharge electricity and is capable of lifting Godzilla.

In Rebirth of Mothra III , King Ghidorah gains energy from eating victims and can construct a dome to house its victims for future consumption.

It is also portrayed as capable of firing lightning bolts from its wings and regenerating its entire body from severed body parts.

In Godzilla: The Planet Eater , the third part of an animated trilogy, Ghidorah is depicted as an evolved entity from a universe with different physical laws that are worshiped by the Exif, who he influenced to become nihilists upon mastering advanced Gematron mathematics.

While Ghidorah consumed the Exifs' homeworld, their first offering to him, through his gravitational powers, a few priests were spared and traveled to other worlds where they established cults while meeting the conditions for Ghidorah to physically manifest as a shadow to consume sacrificial offering through their shadows before his heads finally emerge through black holes.

His necks extend to infinite lengths, nigh-invisible to machines save for the gravitational energy he emanates, strong enough to deflect Godzilla's heat ray or actually bend space.

As long as someone native to the dimension he invades acts as his guiding anchor and witness, Ghidorah can defy that universe's physics, able to render himself intangible to enemy attacks whilst still capable of assaulting foes normally.

He can even distort space-time and erode reality, able to change people's chronological perception of events and nearly succeeding in "erasing" Godzilla from existence.

When defeated, Ghidorah is simply banished back to his dimension to await his next chance to feast. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters , Ghidorah has a divergent frontal lobe density in each of its heads, rendering each head capable of independent thoughts.

Its scales are capable of running bioelectrical currents through its body and its dermal layer is coated with aurum.

Its body's electro-receptor molecular biology can create electrical currents and localized storm systems as it travels. This results in the stratosphere being torn open by thunder and lightning as it takes flight.

As an alpha, Ghidorah's roar is able to awaken and influence other titans around the world into rampaging in the wake of Godzilla's supposed death, having taken over as king.

Halfway through the film, he displays two "unnatural" abilities that were attributed to - and served as evidence of - his alien nature.

The first is the durability to withstand the Oxygen Destroyer, emerging unscathed from the same detonation which severely injured Godzilla and killed all Earth-based lifeforms within a two-mile radius.

The second is the possession of highly accelerated regenerative properties, having regrown the left head minutes after Godzilla tore it off, retaining the memories and personality since Ghidorah's neurons are spread throughout his body like in an octopus.

Later on, the same power substation Ghidorah consumed to boost himself also healed up the wounds on his wing membranes immediately after he fired lightning from the tips of his wings.

Eventually, Godzilla succeeded in incinerating Ghidorah's wings, side heads, body, and finally, the middle head, to prevent the alien dragon from coming back.

However, Ghidorah was not entirely destroyed, for the head Godzilla bit off during the fight in Mexico remained intact and was salvaged, its ultimate fate currently remains unknown.

The character has been well-received and is considered to be the most famous enemy of Godzilla. In his review of Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster , Ethan Reed of Toho Kingdom praised King Ghidorah, calling it "a fantastic addition to the franchise" and "no less than pure evil, a relentless force of destruction that wipes out the life of entire planets just for the sake of it" and concluded that "King Ghidorah is not only one the best characters in the series, but one [of] the best movie villains as well.

Godzilla historian Steve Ryfle, however, has criticized Ghidorah's design in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah , citing its stiff movements and recycled Rodan roar, as well as noting that it did not deviate enough from Eiji Tsuburaya's original design.

This was following an announcement by Mike Dougherty who released a tweet with the names of Ghidorah's head. Kev has memes dedicated to him [64] [65].

There is also a small ridge atop each head. All three of King Ghidorah's necks are very muscular in addition to being very long.

Two rows of spikes run down the back of his center neck, while the left and right necks feature one row apiece.

The undersides of his necks glow yellow when he charges his Gravity Beams. The MonsterVerse King Ghidorah's central neck is positioned in front of his left and right necks much like Keizer Ghidorah's , whereas all previous incarnations of the character had their middle neck positioned behind the others.

King Ghidorah's body is considerably thinner than that of past incarnations, with the outline of his ribcage visible through his skin.

Unlike past incarnations, he has defined arms which extend into his wings, with claws at the end of each fold. His wings are much larger than those of past incarnations and attach to his body well below his hips.

When fully outstretched, they extend well above his heads. This incarnation also uses his wings for support when standing at times.

King Ghidorah's legs are thin but muscular, with his knees bent forward in such a way that he has a slight forward hunch. His feet have at least four digits with defined claws.

King Ghidorah's tails end in spiky retractable fans similar to the Heisei King Ghidorah. According to Monarch files, injuries have been discovered on several locations on King Ghidorah's body "reminiscent of claw and scorch marks.

Monarch classifies King Ghidorah's behavior as that of a "destroyer," and considers him " Godzilla's ultimate nemesis.

Unlike Godzilla, Ghidorah demonstrates true malice and is shown to be openly hostile toward humans which are far too small to injure him, such as when he vaporizes a group of soldiers with his Gravity Beams, when he chases down and kills Vivienne Graham , and when he stalks and attempts to kill Madison Russell.

King Ghidorah's three heads each have their own personalities, and are akin to conjoined triplets rather than a single individual with three heads.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty described the center head as "the one who's sort of the big brother and the most serious," the right head as "slightly more aggressive and tenacious," and the left head as "[displaying] signs of curiosity.

Ghidorah can also flick out his tongues like a snake or lizard. According to Dr. Ilene Chen , Ghidorah is an ancient creature who was feared by many ancient cultures and was said to have been a "dragon who fell from the stars", suggesting that he is of extraterrestrial origin.

Judging by his appearance in ancient cave paintings, he has invaded Earth sometime in the past, and clashed with Godzilla and Mothra.

He was eventually defeated by Godzilla in Antarctica and sealed beneath the ice. In the second painting, he was shown fighting Godzilla.

They entered the base and found King Ghidorah frozen within the ice. Monarch soon arrived and stormed the outpost, engaging in a firefight with Jonah's men.

Emma grabbed the detonator for the charges and pressed it, freeing Ghidorah from the ice. She obliged, and the three-headed Titan rose from the ice.

Monarch's G-Team opened fire on Ghidorah's heads as they eyed them curiously before retaliating with devastating gravity beams that vaporized them.

Ghidorah completely freed himself from the ice and made his way to Monarch's Ospreys, though Madison used the ORCA to distract him before he attacked them.

Godzilla soon eruped from the ice to confront Ghidorah, and the two Titans collided. Ghidorah was more than a match for Godzilla physically, forcing Godzilla to call upon his atomic breath.

Ghidorah's heads weaved out of the way of the blast and countered with their gravity beams, which knocked Godzilla off of the ice shelf.

Ghidorah resumed terrorizing the humans, destroying one Osprey and killing Dr. Vivienne Graham as she and Mark Russell tried to flee to safety.

As Godzilla crawled back onto the ice, Ghidorah took flight and escaped. Monarch tracked Ghidorah aboard the Osprey, only for him to disappear in a tropical storm over Brazil.

As the Argo engaged in an aerial chase with Rodan, Ghidorah was detected moving to the location within the tropical storm.

Monarch decided to lure Rodan to Ghidorah so they would fight each other. As the Argo entered the eye of the storm, it dove out of the way as Ghidorah and Rodan collided and began tearing at each other.

Ghidorah restrained Rodan's wings with his left and right heads, and fired a gravity beam from his central head that blasted Rodan into the water below.

Ghidorah turned his attention to the Argo and pursued it, only to be dragged underwater by Godzilla. Godzilla pulled Ghidorah under the surface and bit down on his left neck, tearing it off.

Just as Godzilla seemed about to win, the military's Oxygen Destroyer struck the water and produced a colossal green explosion.

While Godzilla was severely injured by the blast, Ghidorah was unharmed and flew out of the water, landing atop the Isla de Mara volcano.

Ghidorah regenerated his missing head in a matter of moments and spread his wings, shrieking loudly into the sky. Rodan landed at the foot of the volcano and submitted to Ghidorah, doing his bidding along with the other newly-awakened Titans.

Ghidorah made his way to the East Coast of the United States, bringing with him a massive hurricane that settled over Washington, D.

When Monarch learned that Godzilla was still alive, it sent a nuclear submarine to try and revive him while the Argo battled Ghidorah and Rodan in D.

Horrified at what her mother had helped to unleash, Emma's daughter Madison stole the ORCA and brought it to Fenway Park, where she broadcast a signal that calmed the other Titans and lured Ghidorah to Boston.

Upon landing, Ghidorah destroyed the loudspeakers broadcasting the sound and fired his gravity beams into the pressbox.

Madison managed to escape onto the field, but Ghidorah found her and prepared to fire his gravity beams. However, the now-revitalized Godzilla arrived in the city surrounded by a military escort and blasted Ghidorah with his atomic breath.

Ghidorah charged at Godzilla and the Titans collided with each other, producing a shockwave that shook the Argo. Ghidorah restrained Godzilla with his heads and pinned him to the ground, but Godzilla used his atomic breath to force him off.

Mothra flew overhead and used her silk to pin Ghidorah's heads against a building. As Ghidorah tried to free his heads, Godzilla charged and tackled him through the building.

As Ghidorah lay on the ground and witnessed Godzilla approaching, he called to Rodan to intercept Mothra. With Rodan and Mothra fighting in the air, Ghidorah and Godzilla continued their battle on the ground.

Ghidorah bit down on a nearby power substation and absorbed the electricity, which he projected through the tips of his wings, blinding and stunning Godzilla.

Ghidorah pressed his advantage and leaped onto Godzilla, grabbing him in his claws and carrying him into the sky.

Ghidorah used his middle neck to strangle Godzilla until he went limp, then dropped Godzilla from above the clouds. Godzilla struck the ground and was left immobilized as Ghidorah landed near him, ready to finish him off.

The battle is at first a stalemate, both Titans being evenly matched. Ghidorah manages to absorb massive amounts of electrical energy by biting down on a nearby transformer and proceeds to incapacitate Godzilla.

He carries Godzilla into the sky and drops him down thousands of feet, mortally wounding him. After slamming into the ground, Godzilla lies defenseless.

Mothra, who is grievously injured from her fight with Rodan, attempts to defend him but is killed by Ghidorah's gravity beams.

As she dies, however, she releases a cloud of energy, which Godzilla absorbs. Godzilla begins to glow fiery orange.

Seemingly realizing the threat posed by this energy, Ghidorah grapples Godzilla and begins draining it through his bite.

The few moments were enough for Godzilla to recover, who then enters the scene supercharged and glowing a burning red.

Ghidorah manages to shield himself against Godzilla's first thermonuclear pulse, which incinerates his wings in the process.

Panicking, Ghidorah tries to stop Godzilla with his gravity beams, which fails as this inadvertently charges Godzilla with a second pulse, incinerating Ghidorah's two side heads.

The remaining middle head struggles vainly, as Godzilla ferociously roars and steps on the fallen Ghidorah's chest, triggering and releasing a final thermonuclear pulse that obliterates Ghidorah's body.

After the storm ceased immediately when the pulse dissipates, Godzilla rises from the rubble with Ghidorah's middle head dangling from his mouth, still frantically struggling.

Godzilla fires his atomic breath through Ghidorah's neck, incinerating it, seemingly leaving behind no remains and presumably killing him for good.

It is revealed that Ghidorah's left head that was severed by Godzilla during their battle in Mexico has been recovered by fishermen from the ocean, and is now discolored and swarming with flies, seemingly dead.

Alan Jonah, seeing a potential use for it upon being shown it, purchases it from a trader. Ghidorah had electro-receptor molecular biology, and his skin was covered with traces of gold that acted as a conductor that carried bioelectrical currents throughout his body.

Ghidorah's golden scales made him highly impervious to any form of weaponry. He was also able to withstand a full-force charge from both Rodan and Godzilla.

Even a radiation-overloaded Godzilla's atomic breath couldn't cause any noticeable damage to Ghidorah, merely forcing him backward. Ghidorah's middle head survived the destruction of the rest of his body completely conscious possibly due to Ghidorah's alien biology and was only destroyed by Godzilla's atomic ray firing up through the head's severed neck to atomize it.

Ghidorah's severed left head, by comparison, appeared to be dead and rotting by the time it was dredged up. Ghidorah could drain energy and electricity directly into himself by biting down on power sources.

He gained a catastrophically-immense burst of electrical power by biting down on a live power station in Boston; and he was also able to slowly drain and siphon Godzilla's excess radiation by biting down on the latter, an act which caused Ghidorah's necks and heads and his opponent's body to glow yellow and bright-orange.

Ghidorah's massive and powerful wings enabled him to fly with great speed over long distances, and he only needed to pump them downwards to get airborne off the ground.

Ghidorah could shoot yellow gravity beams concentrated, lightning-like beams of electricity from his mouths. Much like how Godzilla's dorsal plates glow whenever he is about to release his atomic breath, Ghidorah's necks, throats, and sometimes his eyes glowed before he fired his gravity beams.

The beams were extremely powerful, as they could easily obliterate buildings, seemingly caused humans to instantly combust to ashes, singed Godzilla's scales, and incinerated a weakened Mothra within seconds during their battle in Boston.

They were also able to generate a great amount of static electricity that shorted out the circuits of all nearby electronics, as happened in Antarctica.

Immediately after absorbing electricity directly from a city transformer, Ghidorah blasted gravity beams from the bladed tips of his wings, disabling numerous aircraft in the surrounding skies.
